This groom-to-be, Joe, is a friend from our beloved church (iamthewaters.com). I was thrilled to meet his beautiful bride-to-be and LOVED getting to capture the two of them (plus sweet Rylee!).

Joe is pretty much the nicest guy I know (aside from my own Russell King :), so I could not wait to meet the girl who snagged his heart. Erin totally did not disappoint! This girl is sweet, fun, loves the Lord, and is excited to marry an exceptional guy.

Joe & Erin, congrats! You guys are in for an adventure. I pray a million blessings over your marriage. May you always be committed to serving the Lord together, to making your marriage great even when it’s hard, and to laughing together for the next hundred years.

P.S. Erin, you totally inspired me. I really want to rock some cowboy boots :)

Mine { Cypress Child Photographer }

She is thoughtful, articulate, and thinks through things. She has the sweetest disposition of any child I have ever known. She loves her baby. She talks from the moment she wakes up until she falls asleep at night. She takes time to get to know people, but once she loves someone, she loves them with her whole heart. She would eat dessert all day if we let her. She is incredibly beautiful. She is the world’s slowest eater. She is an incredible sleeper. She has the sweetest voice. She is incredibly smart. She is resilient.

He is a blur of motion. He has two speeds, moving and asleep. He almost never sits down, which means he hates the car seat and will only tolerate the highchair long enough for him to shove some food in his mouth. He is fearless. He loves to climb. He has lots of smiles and literally has the best laugh I’ve ever heard. He is incredibly strong. At thirteen months, he only has one semi-used word (“hi”), but is becoming a master at using the grunt to communicate. He has woken up at 5:30 almost every day of his life. He is constantly bumped, bruised, bleeding, and scratched. He never notices if he hurts himself. He adores the cat. He has provided more amusement for our little family, who already laughed a lot, than we could have imagined.

Together they become closer every day. She comes up with new nicknames for him almost daily including “my puppet” (or “puppy” for short) and “my little duckling”. She takes responsibility for feeding him when we’re in the car. I love to see their two hands reaching across the backseat as she puts a pretzel, animal cracker, or goldfish in his fat little hand. She holds his hand when we walk out the front door and helps him stand on the porch while I lock the door. She gives him special kisses every night before bed. His favorite place to climb is her bed, which she sometimes loves and sometimes hates. He thinks she is the most interesting, most funny person he’s ever seen. They are so different and yet the most precious pair. I am so grateful they are mine (ours :).

I love these people. It has been a blessing over the past several years to know them and experience life with them. And not only are Tim & Liz great friends of ours, but these boys have a special place in my heart. Big brother is probably my sweet Campbell’s favorite friend and there is something insanely sweet about the way he cares for her and loves her. And Declan. Oh, Declan. He is one of a kind. I was overjoyed to get some legit smiles out of that one. And without a food bribe in sight :)

I have known and loved this family for a long time. And if you have been looking at the images Kristin King Photography produces for any length of time, you will surely recognize them. These girls have done quite a bit of growing in the two and a half years I have been in business, and it has been my joy to photograph them along the way. Are they ever beautiful!

They aren’t the only ones who have grown up. Both Mom and Dad and I go all the way back to high school. In fact, I’m pretty sure that somewhere around 1998, I referred to dad (Jordan) as “Jordo” for at least a few years.

This past year has been one of growth in mine and Russ’s relationship with our friends the McClintons. People who were amongst our good friends have now become invaluable life partners. I am challenged by them, trust them, and love love love spending time with them.

Yesterday I turned 31. In honor of my birthday, Jordan wrote on my FB wall “Happy Birthday KK! Thanks for marrying Russell....What? That's valid. If you weren't born, you wouldn't have married Russ, and then I wouldn't get to be friends with him...”. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Love you McClinton people. Let’s bring “Jordo” back.

I've known Kristy since High School Drill Team days (Go Bailadoras!), and was THRILLED when she asked me to do maternity pics for her. These two were up for anything and so fun to shoot...although they did spend the first half of the session preoccupied with keeping up with the Aggie game!

My Nephew { Houston Newborn Photographer }

In 1998, when I was 17 years old, my big sister gave birth to a baby girl, my darling niece Lauren. I had never before loved a baby like I did that girl. From the time she was born, she was KK's girl. Watching her grow, being a part of all the milestones she's had so far, has been one of the highlights of my life. She is funny, so loving, smart, and has always been much like an adult in a little girl's (tweens :) body. She is, without a doubt, one of my favorite people in this world. That baby girl will be 13 years old tomorrow.

In August of 2001, I flew back from spending the summer as a missionary in Southeast Asia. I came back pretty sick. That same day, as my sister and I were laying in bed, she told me about the man she had started dating over the summer while I was gone, and his two and a half year old son. I met that that blond, chubby-cheeked, little boy the next week. It didn't take long for us all to fall in love with Gregory. She married that man a few years later, and I can't imagine life without Greg now. He is hilarious and has a precious sensitive heart. And he has the best hair of any boy in Junior High. Seriously.

On August 8th of this year, my sister gave birth again. She is now the mother of three kids, and they are a family of FIVE. Baby Richard (or Little Richard as we often call him :), has brought a whole new dimension to their family and is absolutely adored by both his parents and his older brother and sister. And by this aunt too :)

I never imagined that we would end up with kids so close in age, but here we are. Two little guys less than 10 months apart. I can't wait for the thousands of times that Richard will spend the night here, for all the messes and mischief he and Bennett will get into. I can't wait for these two to experience every stage of life together. My prayer for them has been that they are close like brothers, that the Lord would do something so incredible in their relationship.

Richard cried through most of his newborn session, but I'm pretty sure he just wanted his Aunt KK to hold him (which I totally did NOT mind doing). When he wasn't crying, he was a great model. Good thing, since he was born into a family that appreciates pictures!

KK loves you Richard Alexander. I can't wait to experience every stage of your precious little life.

Christmas is Coming!

Well, maybe Christmas isn't quite here yet, but if you are anything like me and TOTALLY addicted to Pinterest, you are already drooling over your "Holiday" board and counting the minutes until you can start decorating for the crazy, awesome Christmas season! Seriously, I am dreaming of DIY projects and fun stuff to do with the kids for the next few months...and my plans do NOT include 105 degree temps!

What IS quickly approaching is Christmas card portrait time (i.e. my very busy season!). I know it may seem early, but in order to allow time for editing and to have your images back in plenty of time for you to create the card of your dreams, sessions should be booked early. In addition, I do not work during the month of December, so I have ample time to enjoy the chaos with my own family! So if you are interested in scheduling for the months of September, October, & November, now is the time to do it! This is the second time I have photographed this darling little man, and I have just come to love him and his incredibly sweet parents. And seriously, could this family of three be any more gorgeous?

Little Pierce has turned into quite the little ham since I saw him last. After a brief adjustment period, he turned on the serious charm. And this boy can flirt! I was on the receiving end of lots of head tilts & sweet smiles. All in all, a great session with a precious family.

This is hands-down one of my favorite families. I could list about a million reasons why, but to sum it up, these are our people. The people that we laugh with, pray with, worship with, struggle through life with, vacation with, talk about everything and nothing with, and draw closer to God with.

Once upon a time (what seems like quite a few years ago!), I was engaged to be married to my sweet husband. He informed me that his four best friends would be in our wedding. I thought I knew my betrothed fairly well, but I did not know of these elusive friends. That was just the kind of relationship they had - they would go ages without seeing or talking to one another, mostly spread around Texas at various schools, then would reconnect like they had never been apart. Around midnight on Christmas Eve 2003, we met them at a pool hall. That was the first time I met most of them. Two things were evident. 1. They were crazy and 2. these guys loved my beloved then-fiance. Ben, Wes, John, and Drew definitely made our wedding interesting as well!

It seemed like for years we were living a completely different life than the rest of the guys. Maybe Russ and I were on the fast track? :) We continued to meet for mini-reunions when everyone was in town for holidays. I saw girlfriends come and go. By the time the next one, Ben, got married, we were pregnant with Campbell. This past year, two of the other guys got married. It has been fun to get to know the girlfriends, fiances, and now wives of the guys and go from being the only girl in this crazy group to making some of my own precious friends.

Fast forward to today. Ben and Chelynne are expecting sweet baby boy Owen Patrick in just a few weeks. He is the first baby (other than my own) to be born into this little group, made up of boys who were basically just babies themselves when they met.

It was a huge privilege for me to photograph this moment for them and to celebrate this next step in their lives. I am so excited to watch them be parents, so excited for them to know the joy and chaos of parenthood, and the laughter and frustration and fear and transformation that comes as you try to be the very best parents you can be. There have been few things sweeter in my life.

Many people who follow this blog are aware of Layla Grace Marsh and her fight against cancer. Layla went to be with the Lord one year ago yesterday, and a significant part of her legacy is to advance the successful treatment of other children with cancer.

Pierce's mom, Jenny, and I go all the way back to high school. I had followed her pregnancy with this little darling via Facebook, and was overjoyed to hear from her about shooting Pierce's first official photo session.

Little man did NOT make it easy on us, but the fact that he is just too adorable made up for his theatrics. It was truly a joy to get to know this little family!

P Family - Oh how I love them! { Houston Family Photographer }

I'm baaaack! While it was nice to have a little break and some time to settle in as a mother of TWO darling kiddos, I have definitely missed the creating and interacting that comes with this "work" I do. And when I'm back, I'm back. I've already had three sessions this week and am looking at two more before the week is over. I was so excited about this particular family session, that I raced through the editing and, of course, picked way too many images to post for it to be considered a small sneak peek!

Clint Paschall is not only the pastor of our beloved church, The Waters, but also played a significant role in me coming to know the Lord. It's hard to believe I have known this precious family since their beautiful daughter was an adorable, red-haired toddler and I was a silly high-school girl. As an adult, Clint and Tonia have blessed my family with friendship, accountability, and much appreciated parenting advice! They are people we feel blessed to call friends.

What a joy to photograph people that I love so.

My Newest Project { Cypress Baby Photographer }

Introducing, Bennett Russell King.

Born 10-10-10 at 1:10 pm
9 lbs 8 ounces, 21 inches long

He is sweet and cuddly.
He is a giant among babies (13 lbs at one month old!)
He's had a rough month - reflux, a 3rd week growth spurt that left him constantly hungry, and a fever that resulted in a trip to the ER.
He has a headful of hair. It keeps getting more blonde and is a little wild.
He is becoming interesting to his big sister. She keeps saying "Bennett's such a cute baby!".
He has already added so much joy to our lives.

I am just now feeling a tiny bit like myself. Maybe that's thanks to B-man sleeping some longer stretches the last few nights (who knew that sleeping 4 hours at a time could be so refreshing?). Keeping up with two kids has been quite the challenge. I have my first few sessions this week, so we'll see how I manage adding that back in!

Photographing this very active one year-old was a little bit different than photographing Kendall as a newborn! She never stopped moving, for one single second. I literally felt like I had run a marathon afterwards!

I guess you could chalk it up to being 4 months pregnant, with a daughter days away from being 2, and having so many sessions the past few months. This was a GREAT session to snap me out of my funk!

Wes is one of Russ's oldest friends. He was a groomsman at our wedding (almost 6 years ago!). He and his future bride, Jamie, have become some of our most precious friends and we are thrilled to celebrate their upcoming wedding and marriage with them.

I first photographed this family in August of last year, then again in December. I LOVE repeat clients because not only does it affirm they are happy with their finished product, but also because I thrive on getting to know people and relationships.

They recently welcomed a sweet baby girl into their family. She is the chunkiest 2 month old I have ever seen!

Little Jack was just days away from his first birthday and was somewhat skeptical about the camera for part of the session. When he turned it on, he really turned it on though! I have literally never rescheduled with a client as many times as I had to reschedule with this family. I think our initial session was planned for end of November/beginning of December, and time and time again the weather was just not on our side!

I'm so glad they patiently waited though, because they were a joy to meet. And these kids?? Sweet and obedient and can we say looks like they belong in a Ralph Lauren Ad??

Eli is the newest son of one of my dear, dear friends. He is joining spunky, funny, big brother Ryder.

I met Jenny and Ryder when I shot this session almost a year ago. Since then, Jenny has become a cherished friend. Not only is Jenny completely unselfish, but it is one of those rare friendships where we just understand each other. I feel like we've been friends forever.

Jenny did not find out what she was having until Eli was born (which plagued me constantly. And I told her how I felt about it at least weekly!), but what a tiny, handsome baby he is.

I can't wait to watch him grow. And to have a million playdates.

And we cannot forget big brother Ryder.

Jeremy, Nikki, and Eleanor are some of our most favorite people.

Nikki and I have been best friends as high school seniors, through the changes of college, through countless relationship changes, living across the country from each other, as soon-to-be-marrieds, as newlyweds, through our respective Master's programs, as expectant mothers, and as new mothers. Our lives have tended to take a similar path (understatement!) and while at times it can seem a little weird (seriously, we have done a lot of things the same!), I am so grateful for the hundreds of journeys we have walked together and the bond we have so evidently been given by the Lord.

Our beloved friends are expecting their second little darling, baby boy Everett Ray. It was an honor to photograph the three (four!) of them and we are waiting in eager anticipation to meet sweet Everett.

I have mentioned before that I LOVE photographing friends. This was definitely no exception!

Erin and Adam have become some of our precious friends over the last two years. Erin and Adam are the kind of people that will come to the hospital straight from the airport coming back from vacation, to visit your baby in the PICU. They will bring up their laptop to the hospital to keep you entertained. Adam even pre-cleaned a pumpkin and brought all the supplies up to us at the hospital to carve our own pumpkin, since Campbell was going to be in the hospital over Halloween.

We are so blessed to know them and call them friends.

And obviously they are G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S, right??

When Jennifer emailed me about a newborn session for her soon-to-be-born second son, I was thrilled. I had followed her blog, via the blog of close mutual friend, for quite some time. Jennifer and Bryan had prayed for, yearned for, and pleaded with God for this addition to their family. Unbeknownst to me, while I was following her journey to her newest darling, she was following our journey through Campbell's illness. We both agreed we had been blessed by the faithful God, who walked us each through incredibly difficult trials.

Knowing her journey to get to Colin made it even sweeter to photograph this little darling and their new family of FOUR. They truly are incredibly sweet, and this boy is blessed to be born to parents who wanted him oh so badly.

If you remember back to this session with Lori & Bobby, we got rained out halfway through. We met up on a Sunday afternoon recently to finish our session. The weather this time did not disappoint (only slightly chilly. Hello arctic blast!). Lori & Bobby do not disappoint either. They are cute, funny, and obviously smitten.

Campbell { Cypress Child Photographer }

There are a myriad (awesome word) of reasons I don't have more full-out photo sessions with Campbell. #1 She is unbelievably uncooperative. Seriously, for a child who is SO well-behaved, she absolutely does not respond to "Campbell, look at the camera!". And #2 I generally always feel guilty if I work on my own stuff when I have client images to edit...which is basically all the time.

But I often feel sad that I am handing out fully edited and ready to print images to clients and the pictures of my precious girl often sit unedited and almost always unprinted on my hard-drive. My mother frequently refers to herself as the plumber's wife (cause you know, the plumber's wife has leaky faucets...and the photographer's mother doesn't have good pictures of her granddaughter.)

So Campbell and I made a stop today as we ran errands and "pwayed" for a bit. Angela and Lori, forgive me as I took a brief break today from editing your sessions, to edit my own. I love these images, from that beaver tooth smile to that prissy walk to those huge blue eyes, these represent all the little details of her that I obsess over day in and day out. What a gift she is.

So without further ado, the girl I love more than any other.

The sister/sister-in-law/aunt of this sweet family contacted me about purchasing a photo session for her sister and fam for Christmas. This little family of three is stationed in California currently, where dad is serving in the Navy and was in Houston for the holidays.

We braved the coooold morning and barely missed the rain, but we sure were blessed with a happy baby Trey! This kid had an endless supply of hilarious expressions!

And here it is, the last of my Christmas card sessions. I have to say, this first "busy season" of my photography career has been both fun and overwhelming, particularly coming on the heels of Campbell's recent hospitalization. I feel so blessed, however, at how God is growing this business and at the constant referrals I am receiving. I am excited to see what 2010 holds!

I think the "cuteness" of this sweet family speaks for itself. Little man was quite the ham!

It has been quite a while since I last photographed this family (minus one very important addition of course!). These gorgeous people happen to be not only my next-door neighbors, but the people that we live life with everyday.

We headed out this past week to snap some shots for their Christmas card. It was like negative twelve degrees with gushes of wind. Well, maybe not, but us Houstonians were struggling!

And a big thank you to my sweet assistant, who sat in her stroller, ate pretzels, and said "baby" three hundred times. Mama loves to take your picture the best Campbell Rose!

I first met the "S" Family when I did a session for them in the summer. One of the most rewarding parts of doing this has been people coming back for more pictures and allowing me to document the various stages of their lives and their childrens' lives.

The first thing Bobby said to me was "I don't know how to have my picture taken." How did he know how much I value honesty?

Lucky for me, he was underestimating his ability to love on his gorgeous fiancee. I was blessed by my time with these two, as they are so completely, obviously, in love. I came home and reminisced with my own beloved about the days before we got married...has it really been almost six years?

We got rained out halfway through our session and have rescheduled the completion of the shoot for after the New Year. Bobby, I'm expecting big things from you!

I met this precious family in Cypress last week for some family pics. Not only were they totally sweet, but oh.my.gosh. have you ever seen lips like that? That little man is gorgeous!

Sweet little boy was suffering from an ear infection and some tummy troubles, but he was still as calm as could be. You have to love a little one who is that sick and doesn't fuss a single time!

Before Campbell has hospitalized, I had a fun session with these sweet sisters and their families. These kids were cute before they put their costumes on and basically completely hilarious as Peter Pan and Tinkerbell after they were costumed.

I'm so sad I didn't get these to you guys before Halloween, but I sure hope it was worth the wait!
